REPORT

The department of Mathematics organized a 5 Day National webinar on Mathematical and Statistical Tools at Applied Level from 21.07.2020 to 25.07.2020(2 to 3 p.m.), for UG, PG Students and Research Scholars of mathematics and Statistics. Through this webinar we mainly aimed to provide the students with right content and context for globally infused mathematics curriculum and showing the students how the world consists of situations, events and phenomena that could be sorted out using the right mathematics tools. Through this the students would be able to use data to draw defensible conclusions and use mathematical knowledge and skills to make real-life more comfortable.
The webinar was coordinated by Ms. Radhika V S, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, assisted by Ms. Sreeja T.S, Ms. Steeja I F, Ms. Lintu Raj, Ms. Shilpa S and Mr. Mahesh M. The technical works like preparation of Google form for Data collection, Design of certificates, feedback etc. are hereby appreciated. Prof. T K Rajan, HoD, Department of Mathematics was the Convener of the programme.
We circulated the invitation and messages in What’s App and mail. More than 300 participants registered in the Google form and on an average 150 members participated in the webinar on each day. We started a You Tube live channel in parallel since the registered candidates were more than 250. Besides Kerala, Participants from other states like Maharashtra, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka also attended the webinar. Feedback was collected from all the participants through Google form. All the Participants and Resource persons were of good opinion on the webinar arrangement and sequential events. The webinar was the great opportunity for the participants including our students to enrich the knowledge in the present situation. E-Certificates were issued to all the participants and besides this an appreciation letter was also sent to each Resource person. It was a new experience to our students as well as faculties. The webinar was a great success.
