The Department of Physics was established at Yuvakshetra Institute of Management Studies in the year 2019. Physics classes was started on 5th July 2019 and inaugurated on 10th July 2019 by Dr. Mohammed Basheer, Vice Chancellor, University of Calicut with a faculty and student strength of twenty four. Laboratory for doing Physics practical’s were blessed and inaugurated on 27th November 2019 by H.E. Mar. Jacob Manathodath, Bishop of Palakkad. The lab has 18 working tables and a dark room for optical experiments. Sufficient instruments are also there as prescribed in the syllabus.
Currently the department offers a three year under graduate programme with Mathematics and Chemistry as complementary subjects. Students with consistently good academic record in the science subjects at the plus two level or equivalent are selected to the course. The Department provides effective teaching through lecture method, ICT, discussions, audio visual aids, peer teaching assignments, quizzes and seminar presentations for a smooth learning process. We also conducts the complementary courses for B.Sc. Chemistry and B. Sc. Mathematics.

Physics is the science dedicated to understanding HOW, WHY and WHAT our world and the universe behaves. It seems that every time there is a new discovery in physics. It throws up more questions than answers and opens new horizons of knowledge. If you think these questions are fascinating, then you’ll like physics. Here, Yuvakshetra gives you an opportunity to understand the nature and natural phenomena through its department of Physics. We offer a graduation course, B. Sc. Physics, affiliated to the University of Calicut. Many apparently complicated things in nature can be understood in terms of relatively simple mathematical relationships. So for a physicist, mathematics has got an importance.
Physicists also increasingly using advanced computers and programming languages in the solution of scientific problems, particularly for modelling complex processes.

Departments

Shape the next generation physicists to face and solve the greatest challenges of the future by igniting their young talented minds with novel ideas in Physics.

  • Impart quality education both in theoretical and experimental physics through effective teaching learning process.
  • Develop a scientific temper and a sense of social commitment in students.
  • Motivate students to pursue higher studies in Physics which will improve their career forecasts.
  • Support the developmental activities of the college by encouraging the students to participate both in co-curricular and extracurricular activities.
  • To impart quality education in physics to students so as they become globally competitive physicist.
  • To make the students to accept the challenges in physics and can effectively disseminate the physics knowledge to coming generations.
  • To create strong interest in physics so as students can further develop themselves through self-study.
  • To create a sense of ethical responsibilities among students.
Programmes Offered

The department offers undergraduate program to ignite inquiring minds. The department is competent to provide clear and thorough concepts of physics to the students. Funded Research projects and seminars conducted by the department are intended to motivate students to pursue a career in physics and also to instill a scientific temper. Course Plan
