The Department of Mathematics started its Mathematics Club ‘INFINITO’ with mission ‘Unlocking Mathematics’ on October 15, 2020, the World Mathematics Day 2020. It was inaugurated by Ms. Saritha Chandran C, Asst Professor in Mathematic’s, Govt Polytechnic College Palakkad through an online meeting. The club has started its official You Tube channel on October 13, 2020 and a promo video on INFINITO was released in the College Academic Council meeting held on 14 October 2020. The first video on ‘Cultural Heritage of Mathematics’ prepared by the club members was released and uploaded in the You Tube channel ‘infinito math club yuvakshetra’.
Math Club is expected to be formed for making mathematics learning, an enjoyable process. The club aims at organizing activities such as lectures, presentations, quizzes, puzzles, videos on model making etc that make learning mathematics simpler and create an enthusiastic interest towards the subject. These activities will further enhance in the development of a Mathematics Lab for the college. The club has planned to upload activities in You Tube channel once in a week. Students are made groups of three or four for preparing videos and other activities. In the month of October, 2020, five videos have been uploaded in the You Tube channel including one promo video. The videos included facts about Trigonometry, Algebra and one magical problem. The Math Club is purely run by the students of the department with the supervision of the HoD, staff coordinators Ms Steeja I F and Ms Radhika V S.
