CAPACITY BUILDING AND SKILL ENHANCEMENT PROGRAMME- Department of Mathematics
Department of Mathematics organized capacity building and skill enhancement programme Statistical Applications in R for the students of various departments of YIMS. Students and faculties from St. Mary’s College Puthanangadi, and S N College Alathur were also part of the programme under the MoU signed by the department. The programme was conducted on 9th September 2021 from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm. The resource person for the webinar was Mr. B Esha Rafffe, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics and Statistics , Sri Krishna College, Coimbatore. The programme started at 10.30 am with a prayer. Ms. Lintu Raj, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics delivered the welcome speech. Dr. Tomy Antony, Principal, YIMS, felicitated the session. Ms. Sreeja T S, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics expressed the vote of thanks. R performs a wide variety of functions such as data manipulation, statistical modeling, and graphics. The session started with the history of R software and the resource person explained the method of doing statistical operations in R console. In current scenario it is very difficult to do any scientific task without the knowledge of software. Hence, in this situation, this programme helped students to develop a new skill which is beneficial for their future. The seion was really informative and very useful to the student. More than 350 participants benefited from the session. The session wound up by 12.30 pm.
