“Beyond the High: What They Don’t Tell You About Drugs”

The PG Department of English Language and Literature, in association with the Anti Narcotics Cell, organised an awareness programme titled “Beyond the High: What They Don’t Tell You About Drugs” on 6 March 2026 for the UG and PG students of the Department. The programme was inaugurated by Mr. Sajeev S, Assistant Excise Commissioner, Vimukthi Mission, Palakkad, who served as the resource person. In his insightful session, he spoke about the realities of drug abuse, its harmful effects on individuals and society, and the importance of awareness and responsible choices among young people.
The programme began with a prayer followed by a warm welcome address by Ms. Pameela Johnson, Head of the PG Department of English. The session was presided over by the Principal, Dr. Tomy Antony. The Principal highlighted the importance of awareness programmes that educate students about the dangers of drug abuse and encouraged them to make responsible life choices. The programme was coordinated by Ms. Pooja Krishnan R, Assistant Professor, Department of English, and was supported by the other faculty members of the department who contributed to the successful organisation of the event. The session proved to be informative and meaningful, creating awareness among students about the serious consequences of drug abuse and the importance of leading a healthy and responsible
life.
